As a licensed acupuncturist and a licensed massage therapist, Jennie has a deep reservoir of knowledge from which to draw when approaching health and healing. Each practice inspires the other. She believes that the body is a wonderful playground of unlimited joy.
Western medicine is an amazing science but there are gaps that people sometimes fall through. I believe that a holistic treatment meets you on all levels in varying degrees. I love giving people tools and alternatives to the challenges they face, whether it's ADD chronic pain seasonal allergies, infertility menstrual irregularities and beyond.

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are an ancient form of medicine that are based on a natural model. Today it is also influenced by modern science and the two are blended to bring together to create treatment. Acupuncture uses hair thin disposable needles. Looking and listening are an important part of your treatment. An aspect of this is feeling your pulses and looking at your tongue. This allows the acupuncturist to see and feel your internal landscape which influences their clinical decisions.
Acupuncture is probably most well known for pain and musculoskeletal problems. However, it can be used for a variety of reasons including women's health, infertility, menopause, pregnancy symptoms, HTN, ADHD, insomnia, allergies, common cold, smoking cessation, immune enhancement, cancer (especially side effects from chemotherapy), and much more.
Herbs are formulated after a complete health history is taken. They can either be in pill form or granules dissolved as a tea. Usually many herbs are blended together for their synergistic effect. Granule formulas can be custom made for you.
Oriental medicine is a discipline based on Classical Chinese texts. Acupuncture is only one component of this medicine. Treatments may also include Chinese herbs, moxibustion (an herb that is burned), dietary or lifestyle advice, qi gong exercises or massage.
Jennie King received her Master's degree from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Her curriculum included acupuncture, Chinese herbology, zen shiatsu, qigong and 700 clinical hours of internship. She is certified to teach 1,000 Hand Buddha and Eight Treasures qigong forms through the Ling Gui School of Qigong. She is also a board certified herbalist and a member of NADA (National Acupuncture Detox Association).
After graduation, she volunteered in Nepal for the non-profit Acupuncture Relief Project (ARP). There, Jennie served in a community style clinic seeing between 15-17 patients a day. Common complaints that she treated were joint pain, headaches, high blood pressure and gastrointestinal problems. She has a general acupuncture and Chinese medicine practice on Hawthorne Blvd. and specializes in women's health and fertility at Blossom Clinic both in Portland, Oregon.
In addition to her Chinese medical degree, Jennie has ten years of massage experience. She completed her education at East-West College of the Healing Arts. Her experience is varied as she worked in a day spa, a chiropractor's office, sporting events and other random fun jobs. She practices both disciplines at her Hawthorne office.
Before her journey into the world of health and healing Jennie received her bachelor's degree in Women's Studies from The Ohio State University. She is committed to being a lifelong student and continues her studies through a variety of classroom and work settings, as well as her yoga, and qi gong practices.
Jennie King is one of the rare individuals who approaches her practice with mindfulness, compassion and a genuine call to heal. I first saw Jennie for massage, as I was having continuous neck and stress related back issues. As my treatments continued and expanded into acupuncture, our sessions became more about a holistic approach to treating me physically and emotionally. She has an incredible understanding of the body and is really able to provide an individualized approach to each need and concern. There are moments during my treatments where I am absolutely amazed at how accurately she is able to locate and address my issues. Jennie is tuned in to the emotional aspect of healing, and is a committed listener who truly cares about her patients and their well-being. I have now been seeing Jennie for over a year and a half and she has not only be an amazing healer, but a friend and confidant. She is such a joy to see, always with a smile, gentle hands and an intentional approach. Jennie is the first and only person I recommend. I intend to be both a patient and friend for years to come.

Meeting Jennie has changed my life for the better, no exaggeration! I have been going to Jennie for several years and I'm calmer, more centered, and know that no matter how stressful my life gets I can leave it all behind once I get to her office. She tailors each massage to my own needs and has gotten to know me as a person, not just a client. Her holistic approach and caring have made each visit more than just a simple massage experience. We have done a lot of body energy work and she was instrumental in my healing from being in NY for 9/11. I have recommended Jennie to everyone I care about because she is incredibly talented and skilled in what she does and have never met another massage therapist that comes close in comparison. Plus, she's fun to talk with!

Jennie is a fantastic massage therapist and I can't recommend her highly enough. She is a great listener and is extremely responsive to each client's individual needs. Each time she's worked on me, I've felt more and more of a release of tension and blocked energy. Jennie brings a holistic approach to her practice; she's regularly suggested wonderful stretches and other regular maintenance techniques to help me stay balanced, open and grounded.

My name is Michael Williams and I have been fortunate enough to be receiving my massages from Jennie King, LMT for about two years now and in my opinion she is the best at what she does. She is very skilled at putting together the right type of massage for you. I receive deep tissue massages with cranio-sacral work. The work that Jennie does is top notch and it will leave you feeling relieved for weeks. The atmosphere at Jennie's office is wonderfully calming and Jennie is a very caring professional. I recommend her for any type of massage work.

Most mothers think their daughters are perfect, but mine really is! Not only is she caring, intelligent, fun, and energetic (and brave, courageous and bold), but she also knows how to make a person feel wonderful. Every time I visit, I'm treated to a luxurious full-body massage. Jennie has studied several different types of body work and uses them all to customize a perfect experience just for me. She kneads my tight muscles, alleviates my arthritis pain, and leaves me with a mellow feeling that lasts for days. So, you can see why I think she is perfect. There's only one problem -- she lives too far away from me. Although you can't qualify for the free Mother's Special, you have an advantage -- you live close enough to enjoy a great massage every week.

By chance I happened to be talking about massage at a party and Jennie's name came up and I realized it was the Jennie King that had an office only one block away from my home. I decided then I would try out her massage. I was so happy I did that I bought gift certificates for my sister and ex-wife for Christmas. They have both since spread the good news. I enjoy her eclectic set of techniques as well as what I perceive as an intuitive ability that trancends the mechanics and physiology of the art of massage. Jennie ranks in my top 3 Massage Therapists in the world. Since the other 2 are in other countries, I feel very fortunate not only to get a great massage locally, but within walking distance as well.
